The Path is every lamb still carrying along at 250 g a day?
🍼 When they were weaned
Roughly is fine — it only has to be the same for the whole mob
A lamb’s weight only means something against how long it has been off its mother.
Until a flock has a date here, The Path measures on the calendar instead — which puts
a March-born lamb and a May-born one at the same point on the line.

Site Diary
The year's work on this site, what has been done, and where the sheep have been.
Drone work
Offered alongside the grazing — same site, same visit, nothing extra
driven through the gate. Everything here is flown to the same site rules as
the rest of this page: permits, RAMS, and the nesting-season windows.
Open any one for the detail.
Panel washingon offer
Deionised water applied from the air, row by row. No brushes, no detergent, and no vehicle through the gate — which on a site being grazed and monitored for sward height matters as much as the glass does.
63 haof array across four parks
0vehicles on the sward
33.3 MWpinstalled
What it is
A drone flies the rows applying demineralised water at low pressure. No brushes, no detergent, and no vehicle on the site. Because the water has its minerals stripped out it dries without leaving the spotting that mains water leaves behind.
Why it matters here
63 ha of array across four parks. The alternative is a tractor and bowser between rows that are being grazed and monitored for sward height and hoof damage — so the wash costs you compaction, wheel tracks and a gate opened, before it costs you anything else.
Still to pin down
Water source and volume per pass, the price per park or per MWp, and the permit. Work near live electrical infrastructure needs an individual permit on this site, not the standing one.

Soiling surveyon offer
Measures how much output the dirt is actually costing, park by park, so a wash is a decision with a number behind it rather than a line in the calendar. It is also the figure that justifies the invoice for the wash.
4parks measured separately
per parknot one site average
What it is
A measurement pass that estimates how much output is being lost to dirt, park by park, rather than across the site as one number.
Why it matters here
Washing on a calendar costs money in a clean year and loses output in a dirty one. The survey is what turns washing from a routine into a decision — and it is the number that justifies the invoice for the wash.
Still to pin down
The method (imagery against reference cells, or something else), and the soiling level at which you would recommend washing.
photothe kitphotoat workphotothe result
Thermal surveyon offer
An infra-red pass that picks out cells and strings running hot. A hot cell is a fault, not dirt — washing will not fix it and a soiling figure will not show it, so a park can be cleaned twice and still underperform.
33.3 MWpto inspect
one flightper park
What it is
An infra-red pass over the array, picking out cells and strings running hotter than their neighbours.
Why it matters here
A hot cell is a fault, not dirt. Washing will not fix it and a soiling figure will not show it, so an underperforming park can be washed twice and still underperform. It is the survey that tells you which problem you have.
Still to pin down
Whether it is sold standalone or flown on the same visit as the wash, and what the report looks like when it lands.
photothe kitphotoat workphotothe result
Shading & encroachmenton offer
Maps where the sward has grown into the panel line, with dates, so the strimming and topping already on the year’s programme can be aimed at the places that need them instead of the whole site.
~9 kmof strimming already planned
27 acof topping
2passes a year
What it is
A survey of vegetation height and spread against the panel rows, showing where growth is starting to shade the bottom of the array.
Why it matters here
Two strimming passes of about 9 km and a topping job are already on the year's programme. This says where they are actually needed, instead of walking the whole site to find out — and it dates the encroachment, so the grazing plan can be argued from evidence.

Site tasks 6, 7 and 8 · the year
Spot sprayingneeds approval
Targeted treatment of specific weed patches from the air, rather than any kind of broadcast application. On this site it is a conversation to have before it is a service to offer — the tender is knapsack-only and aerial application needs its own approval.
3herbicide windows a year
10 mno-chemical strip on every dyke
What it is
Spot application from the air onto specific weed patches, rather than any kind of broadcast treatment.
The constraint, plainly
This site is knapsack-only. Rule 2 on the Rules tab says spot spray by knapsack, and no boom anywhere on site, at any time; rule 3 puts a 10 m hand-pulling-only strip along every dyke top. Aerial application of pesticide also needs its own approval in the UK, separate from anything the client agrees. So this is a conversation to have with AGR before it is offered, not a service to put on a price list.
What would have to happen first
Written agreement from the client that a drone is not caught by the boom clause, and the relevant approval for aerial application in place.

Site rules 2 and 3 · tender AGR/BF/001
Stock counton offer
Counts the ewes across every parcel in one flight and gives head per park on a date. The only service here that fills in a box the site is already obliged to fill in, rather than creating a new one.
455ewes on site
243 acto walk otherwise
monthlyreturn already due
What it is
A counting pass over each parcel, giving head per park on a date.
Why it matters here
A monthly stocking return is already an obligation, and stocking density has to be recorded monthly per parcel against the plan's bands. This is the one service that feeds a box the site already has to fill in — instead of a morning walking 243 acres to count sheep under panels.
Still to pin down
Counting accuracy under an array, which is the whole question — panels shade and hide. Worth a trial count against a manual one before it is offered.

Site rule 9 and task 12 · monthly stocking return
Perimeter checkon offer
A flight along the fence line looking at condition, gates, and the wildlife gaps at the bottom of the deer fence — a gap pushed open is both a stock escape and a breach of the tender, and neither shows up until somebody walks it.
20 × 25 cmwildlife gaps to check
4 kmof fence
What it is
A flight along the perimeter looking at fence condition, gates, and the wildlife gaps at the bottom of the deer fence.
Why it matters here
Nothing on this site may be small enough to pass through the 20 × 25 cm wildlife gaps — which is also the reason the site is dry ewes only, no lambs at foot. A gap that has been pushed open is both a stock escape and a breach of the tender.

🔗 Connect a Bluetooth Wand
Pick your device below for step-by-step setup
Good news: Android is the simplest setup. Most modern wands can act as a Bluetooth keyboard — pair once and the EIDs type straight into Glendale.
Option A — Wand in HID mode (easiest, zero apps)
Check your wand has an HID or Keyboard / BLE-KB mode (most modern Allflex, Datamars, Shearwell, Tru-Test do)
Switch the wand to HID mode (button combo or app — check the manual)
On the tablet: Settings → Bluetooth → Pair new device
Pick the wand from the list (e.g. RFID-Reader, HRH4, model number)
Open Glendale in Chrome / Firefox
Go to the 📡 Scanner tab and tap the gold scan box
Pull the wand trigger — EID appears in the box and gets logged
Tip: The on-screen keyboard may pop up over the scan box. That's fine — the wand still types underneath. Press the back button on the tablet to hide the keyboard if needed.
Option B — Wand is SPP-only (needs one free app)
If your wand only speaks Serial Port Profile (SPP) — like the one we tested with Serial Bluetooth Terminal — install a small bridging app:
Pair the wand in Android Bluetooth settings as normal
Open the app, pick the wand, enable "Auto-type to focused field" (or similar)
Switch to Glendale, tap the gold scan box, scan
Don't lose Glendale on the network
The tablet must be able to reach the Pi running Glendale:
Same Wi-Fi as the Pi → use http://192.168.0.134:5000
Away from home → use Tailscale (if installed) → http://100.117.191.45:5000
Troubleshooting
Wand pairs but nothing types: wand is in SPP mode — switch to HID, or use Option B
Tablet keeps disconnecting: turn off battery optimisation for Bluetooth in Android settings
Numbers go to wrong field: tap the gold scan box just before each scan session
Page won't load: tablet not on home Wi-Fi — see the "Don't lose Glendale" section above
The status pill above won't go green on Android. That's normal — the green indicator only works on the Windows laptop where the helper script runs. On Android, just trust that scans appearing in the table means it's working.
Browsers can't read classic Bluetooth wands directly. A small PowerShell helper on the laptop listens to the wand and types EIDs into Glendale.
Step 1 — Pair the wand
Put the wand in pairing mode (hold power until LED flashes)
Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device → Bluetooth
Pick the wand from the list (PIN usually 0000 or 1234)
You should see "Status server: http://localhost:9876" and "Wand bridge on COM4". Leave that window open.
Step 3 — Scan
The big icon above should turn green ✓
Click the gold scan box, pull the wand trigger
EIDs appear with VID, Flock, Type auto-filled
Troubleshooting
Stays red: helper isn't running — open PowerShell and re-run Step 2
Wand on COM3 not COM4: edit the script and change the port
Keys go to wrong window: click the gold scan box first
